Spring Testing Update

Coming up after Spring Break will be our school’s administration of the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) and the new California Science Test (CAST). ALL TESTS WILL BE TAKEN ON THE COMPUTER this year. Please be sure to note the change in grade levels which will be expected to test; 9th and 10th grade students WILL NOT test, while 12th grade students WILL attend to take the new computer based California Science Test.

  • Grade 6- Smarter Balanced English/Math
  • Grade 7- Smarter Balanced English/Math
  • Grade 8- Smarter Balanced English/Math and the California Science Test
  • Grade 9- No Testing
  • Grade 10- No Testing
  • Grade 11- Smarter Balanced English/Math
  • Grade 12- California Science Test only

Students will be expected to attend both assigned days (one for English and one for Math/Science). (* the exception is 12th grade students who will only attend after lunch for two hours on the first day).

  • Day 1- Math/Science:
  • Grades 6, 7, and 11 attend 9:00am-12:00pm.
  • Grade 8 attend 9:00am-2:00pm
  • Grade 12 attends 12:00-2:00
  • Day 2- English/Language Arts:
  • All students test 9:00am-1:00pm (*no 12th grade)
  • (All end times are approximate!)

LOCATIONS:
Testing must be taken in-person at one of our locations – unfortunately, there is no test from home option. Attached to this email is both a calendar and a list with all of the available testing locations; your child(ren) may attend any location of your choice (location information is also included at the bottom of this email). Please mark the appropriate date for your student(s) on your calendar. You do not need to respond to this email; it is for your information only. Please look for another email with a link to registration which will be sent early next week.

2017 SPRING TESTING LOCATIONS

Additionally, at the end of each test, 11th grade students may choose to submit their scores to the Cal State University School System and/or California Community Colleges for the Early Assessment Program (EAP). By doing so, students who show readiness on EAP will be exempt from the English Placement Test (EPT) and/or Entry Level Math exam (ELM) for placement in the Cal State/Community College Systems. Students may earn an exemption from participating in the CSU Early Start program and students may avoid spending time and money on unnecessary tests and classes.
