Adult Education at CalPac
Did you know that more than 29 million adults have not completed high school? (2014 data from the U.S. Census Bureau)
Despite this statistic, just over 206,000 people enrolled in adult secondary education during the 2012-2013 school year, according to the most recent federal data. Why the great discrepancy?
For many adults, the thought of going back to finish high school is a daunting one. Many fear too much time has passed. Others aren’t aware of their options for returning. Some may lack confidence and discipline to push through and earn their diploma on their own.
At CalPac, we believe that it is never too late to achieve your goals and move forward with your education. We are here to help you along the way.
This school year, in partnership with Pathways Academy Charter School Adult Education, CalPac is proud to offer a flexible, online education option for adult learners. Students will be able to access courses 24/7, allowing them to complete their high school diploma at their own pace without disrupting work life and other responsibilities.
Students will receive weekly outreach from a supervising teacher and have access to content teachers via phone, email, text message, or instant message.
Each student will receive a personalized learning plan from their School Counselor with the courses left to meet graduation requirements. Students also get college and career counseling to help them towards their postsecondary goals.
We are proud of our program, as it is highly flexible and focuses on mastery-based instruction. Students take an online exam at the beginning of all core courses. Previous knowledge will result in a decrease in assigned course work, allowing students to complete courses faster by demonstrating mastery of California content standards. This means that students focus on coursework they have yet to master and bypass assignments for which the student has shown content mastery.
We look forward to hearing from you!
